About this course

With the name “WYSIWYG”, this follow-up project on ‘the Eye of the Master’ starts. This training was realized with the cooperation of the Quality Circle ‘Documents and Payment Methods’. In this follow-up project, first a brief review of ‘the Eye of the Master’ training, which elements have been applied in practice? In addition, a lot of attention is paid to improved techniques and new technologies. WYSIWYG consists of a total of 4 days which can be followed in a modular way. In the mornings, attention is paid to theory, in the afternoon there is plenty of room for practical examples and research.

Certification

After completion of the course, the student will receive the corresponding certificate if the result is satisfactory.

Course content

The following topics are covered during this 4-day training:

Day 1

Grids and algorithms (1 day)

Starts with a brief refresher of the basic techniques as were discussed during ‘the Eye of the Master’ course. In the morning, focus on LSA scanning and security techniques in digital printing: Traceless toner, gloss mark, microtext, infrared text and UV text. Producing plates with xerography and/or inkjet. In the afternoon, Raster Image Processor (RIP) technology in practice. Printer grids, algorithms and the possibilities and impossibilities of the different techniques to manipulate grids. Introduction to colour theory and colour structure, an introduction to module 2.

Day 2

Toner / Inkt

In the morning, the following topics will be discussed:

  • the history of toner
  • four generations of toner
  • different types of compositions in toner
  • the colours of toner
  • special toner, such as white opaque toner, traceless toner, UV toner, transparent toner, thickening toner

In the afternoon, different types of ink and compositions are discussed:

  • the colours of ink and their possibilities
  • original cartridges and refill cartridges
  • ink and substrates: which type of ink on which substrate?
Day 3

Measurement is knowledge and what should you measure (1 day)

Practical colour measurement with diverse equipment. The definition of colour within the CieLab colour system.

* To attend Module 3, knowledge of Module 1 should be present.

Day 4

Wysiwyg in practice (1 day)

No, the course fee will be charged afterwards. Payment in installments is also possible, we request that you contact IDcentre for this.

How many teaching moments can I miss?

All course days must be completed for each course. If you cannot follow a class, please contact IDcentre. Regarding the courses, the advice is not to miss a single lesson but if this is the case, please contact IDcentre so that a suitable solution can be found.

How many self study hours are involved?

This course requires no self study hours.
